Join us for our University Day In the Life: this time, we’re chatting to Lucy, a Commerce / Science student. Let us know whose day in the life you want to know about, and ASK ENID.
Let me introduce myself… My name is Lucy, I am 21 years old, studying a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Science (Advanced), majoring in Finance, Marketing and Geography.
Why I chose my degree… I picked a Bachelor of Commerce & Bachelor of Science (Advanced) as it allowed me to combine my desire for a business career with my passion for geography.
Where I wanted my degree to take me… I’m hoping this degree will allow me to have a job similar to Bernard Salt (social demographer), or work in consulting.
Skills I’ve developed… Key skills I’ve developed and used over my degree have been teamwork, thinking laterally and developing my own opinion on issues/topics. Being able to work cooperatively and effectively in a group is one of the most valuable skills needed at Uni – so many subjects require group projects and you just can’t avoid them! It’s also important to be able to juggle many deadlines and activities – the best way to enjoy uni is not to focus too much on course work, but also enjoy the social aspects.
Do this degree if… You enjoy being challenged and want to develop and voice your own views on topics and current issues.
Don’t do this degree if… You don’t like working in groups or numbers (but these can be subtly avoided with clever subject selection!)
